  • Notes
    • nna was the daughter of Arnt, whose last name is unknown. She was born in Upper Stjordalen. She married Ole Olson Myrmo in Norway.

According to the book, "Norwegian Pioneers, The History of Minnehaha County, South Dakota from 1866-1896" the couple had ten children: Marit, Oluf, Jonetta, Karoline, Arnt, Anne-Martha and Oline (twins), Anne, Ole and Inga. All of their children were born in Norway.

Another genealogy says that their children were: Olaf, Arnt (also called Ole), Carl, Marit, Jonetta, Mamie, Olena (Mamie's twin), Anna (also called Inga) and another daughter, whose name was unknown to the writer.

Find A Grave volunteer "Torkel" added a note to this memorial that their children were: Marit, born June 4, 1864, Karoline, born June 23, 1866, Ole, born May 27, 1878, Ane, born April 15, 1880, Inga Marie, born March 17, 1883, Arnt, born August 1, 1887 and Jonetta, July 1, 1872. This information came from the local church book in Norway.

Anna and her husband came to the United States in 1885 (from the same church book the births appeared) and settled in Minnehaha County, South Dakota. Anna passed away on February 5, 1914.

I would like to thank Find A Grave volunteer, "Torkel" for the information from Norway. I would also like to thank another Find A grave volunteer, Teresa, for the Anna's obituary. I'm in the process of trying to get it translated. Thank you both!

I just received a translation to Anna's obituary. It reads as follows:

Mrs. Anna Myrmoe died Thursday the 5th of February at her daughter's, Mrs. Nels Henjum, northwest of Garretson, S.D. She had been ill many months.

Mrs. Myrmoe was born in Upper Stjørdalen, Norway, the 14th of September 1837 and was at her death somewhat over 76 years old. Along with her husband, she emigrated to America 25 years ago and settled near Baltic where she lived until last year when she moved to live with her daughter Mrs. Nels Henjum, who took care of her until the end.

Mrs. Myrmoe had 11 children in all, 5 of whom living. Her husband died 18 years ago. Mrs. Ole Stageberg of Baltic is one of her daughters. Thanksgiving she left for Baltic to visit relatives, and while she was there she suffered a stroke. She was brought home and was bedridden until death visited her. She passed quietly and peacefully into the last sleep.

The funeral took place on Monday last week from her home, where pastor Bergsater of Dell Rapids provided the service, also from East Nidaros Church, where pastor Bøe provided the service. The burial took place at East Nidaros Cemetery."

Thanks to Find A Grave contributor #47143032 for the translation!
