DOWNS - A Bloomington man was killed in a rollover accident late Saturday night on Cheneys Grove Road in rural Downs, McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling said Sunday.

Samuel J. Bruning of the 1100 block of Marion Street was pronounced dead at 12:15 a.m., Kimmerling said in a statement.

The McLean County Sheriff's Department was notified of the accident east on North 2150 East Road in rural Downs at 11:08 p.m. Saturday, said McLean County Sheriff's Sgt. Jon Sandage.

Sandage said the westbound vehicle lost control on Cheneys Grove Road and rolled into a nearby field. The sheriff's department and the Downs Fire Department responded to the scene, and rescue workers said the man had no obvious signs of life, Kimmerling said.

The sheriff's department and the coroner's office will assist in the investigation and crash reconstruction, Sandage said.

Bruning most recently was employed at Meijer, 1900 E. College Ave., Normal, Kimmerling said.

An autopsy has been scheduled for this afternoon, Kimmerling said.
