Flossie was born on May 17, 1895, to William O. and Mary Cooper. Mary's maiden name is unknown at this time. Flossie had five sisters: Emma M., born December, 1884; Pearl, born September, 1887; Grace E., born October, 1889, Flora, born March 1898 and Luvada or Louvada, born in about 1903. Flossie also had one brother, Robert Frank, born in October, 1892. Between 1900 and 1910, another child was born in the family, but by 1910, the child was dead. All of the children were born in Kansas. William, Flossie's father, worked as a day laborer, while the mother, Mary, took care of their home and children. From 1900 through 1920, the family lived in Independence, Kansas. In the 1920 Census, Flossie is listed with her parents and sister, Luvada, in Independence. She is single and working as a stenographer for a refinery. Her father and sister Luvada, were also working at a refinery, William as a laborer and Luvada as a stenographer. Sometime after the census was taken on January 12, 1920, Flossie married Irvin Oscar Truttman. They went to live in Colorado. In November, 1921, Flossie and Irvin had a son, whom they named Jack Irvin Truttman. Jack was born in Denver, Colorado. The 1930 Federal Census lists them living on Rural Route 2, in Littleton, Colorado. Littleton is in Araphoe County. Irvin was 37 years old and working as a secretary on a stock farm. Their son, Jack, said that his father was a bookkeeper. Maybe the census taker classified a bookkeeper as a secretary. At that time, Flossie was 35 years old. In about 1930 or 1931, they moved back to Independence, Kansas. In about 1936, Flossie and Irvin were divorced, probably in Independence. For awhile, Flossie and her son lived in Atchison, Kansas. They were living there in 1946 when Jack was married. In 1948, Flossie was living in Houston, Texas. Around this time, she worked for a School for Boys in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was a housemother. In my conversation with Jack, he spoke very highly of his mother. When I asked if she had any hobbies, he said that she was a very good mother. Flossie passed away on March 10, 1988 in Independence, Kansas. She was buried on March 18, 1988 in Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, Montgomery County, Kansas. Plot: Lot 1397, East half, space 3.

Flossie married Irwin Oscar Truttman Abt 1920, Kansas, USA. Irwin (son of Joseph M Truttman and Friederike Dorothea Obenland) was born 13 Oct 1892, Clay Center, Clay County, Kansas, USA; died 8 Dec 1958, Independence, Montgomery County, Kansas, USA; was buried 10 Dec 1958, Independence, Montgomery County, Kansas, USA.
