Louis married Rosa Katharine Obenland in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in sometime before September, 1918. Rosa is listed on his draft card. On September 14, 1918, Louis registered for the WWI draft. He is described on his draft card as being of medium height and build, with gray eyes and brown hair. He was working as a welder. His employer is illegible on the draft card. The couple had one son, Louis Jr., who was born on June 20, 1921 in Pennsylvania. The 1930 Census lists Rosa, Louis's wife and their son in Lower Gwynedd, Maryland. They were living with Rosa's mother. Louis is not listed with them, but Rosa is married. At the time of this census, Louis was an inmate in the Eastern State Penitentiary in Skippack Townhship, Montgomery County, Pennsyvania. He was convicted of statutory rape and sentenced on 9 Feb 1929 to a fine of $100 and 4-8 years in prison. The record shows he was 46 years old. He arrived at the prison on 16 Feb 1929 and left there on 21 Feb 1931, having completed 2 years of his sentence.

Rose was one of three daughters born to Carl and Christiana. Her sisters' names were Katharine and Caroline. Rose also had two brothers who died in infancy. In 1900, Rosa was living with her aunt, Rosa Goeldenboth Hallwig in Howard County, Maryland. The 1910 Census lists Rose living in Lower Gwynedd, Maryland, with her mother and sisters. Mother Christiana was a laundress, as were Rose and her sister Katharine. In 1918, Rose married Louis Franklin Finley. He worked as an iron worker. The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Marriage Index lists their marriage certificate #411892 in 1919. However, Louis's WWI registration card lists Rose as his wife. This card was filled out in September, 1918. Rose and Louis had one son, Louis Franklin Finley, Jr. He was born on June 20, 1921 in Pennsylvania. The 1930 Census lists Rose as married, but the head of the household. Her husband Louis is not listed on the census as living with his family. Christine was born in Baumerlenbach, Wurttemburg, Germany. The church records there show she was born in 1841, not 1840, as her tombstone shows. She was the daughter of Johann Christian Foernsler and Sophia Dorothea Megerle. On October 6, 1861, she married Johann Jacob Obenland in the Lutheran church in Oehringen, Jagstrkeis, Wurttemburg. Everyone first settled in Howard County, Maryland. That is where in 1897, Jacob died. Two years later, son Carl also passed away. For a time, Christine lived in Philadelphia with her grandson Adolph and his wife Mary. There Adolph worked in the real estate business. When searching newspaper articles and advertisments of the time, Christine is mentioned in serveral places as the buyer or seller of different properties. Christine was living with Adolph and Mary at 879 Oak St., Columbus, Ohio at the time of her death. She died at the age of 83 of heart disease. Christine was buried in Union Cemetery on March 29, 1924 near her grandson, George, who had passed away just the year before.
