    Rchard, his sister Elise and Uncle Jakob Barlin came to the US together. They came over on the President Lincoln, which left the port of Cuxhaven and a arrived in New York City on Oct. 17, 1907. It looks as if Jakob had arleady immigrated and went back to pick up August and Marie's children. In the 1930 Census, Richard listed his occupation as a civil engineer for a lumber company.

    His granddaughter, Sigrid, told me that he was buired in the Lutheran Church cemetery in Bietigheim. She also told me that unless a person's family "renews" the contract, after a certain time, (maybe 20 years) the grave is resold and used again for someone else. I asked her what did they do with the bodies they disinter and she said she didn't know. So August's body might not even be in that cemetery any longer.
