George Steptoe Washington was the youngest son and child of George Steptoe & Lucy (Payne) Washington, & Grandnephew of President George Washington, he was born at "Harewood" Jefferson County, Virginia now West Virginia 15 Oct., 1806 and died 13 Oct., 1831 at the age of 24 years, 11 months, 28 days at "Belvidere" Jefferson County, Virginia now West Virginia, He married May 2, 1827 in Kentucky to Gabriella Augusta Hawkins born Jan. 25, 1810 in Bourbon County, Kentucky and died Feb. 27, 1899 in Union County, Illinois, she was the daughter of Thomas Wyatt Hawkins and Ann Eleanor Garrard
