He was 17, which means he was born in about 1888. Ruth was born in 1898, so Ervin is not her father. Mary Kloss was born in June, 1882. Mary is listed with the family in the 1900 census, along with a Nora Kloss, born in June of 1897. She is listed as a grandchild. Could this be Mary's illegitimate daughter?
