  • Notes
    • Christiana was born in Germany in about 1861. She came to the United States unmarried. Her sister, Rosine, traveled with her. The passenger lists showing the two sisters has yet to be found. On October 26, 1890, Christiana married German immigrant Carl Christian Jacob Ferdinand Obenland. Carl was a widower with an 8 year old adopted son, Adolph Gustave. Their wedding was in Howard County, Maryland. Christiana and Carl had 5 children. Their first child was born on March 6, 1883 and died 3 days later. Rose was born in August, 1891; Katharine was born March 5, 1895; Arthur was born on November 3, 1897 and died December 10, 1897. Caroline was born in about 1899. After her husband died in 1899, Christiana took in laundry to make a living. In the 1910 Census, the family was living in Lower Gwynedd, Montgomery County, Maryland. Daughters Rose and Katharine were also washing clothes to make a living. All three of Christiana's daughters were living with her in 1910. The date and place of Christiana's death is unknown at this time, as is her place of burial.
