- Clatie was the daughter of Clayton Campbell Anderson and his wife, Lizzie McDonald.
The 1900 Census lists her living with her grandparents, William McDonald and his wife Synthia. They were living in Jackson County, Kansas. William was a carpenter.
We don't know Clatie's birthdate, but we do know she was born in Kansas in February, 1899. The Census also states that her father was born in Virginia and her mother was born in Indiana.
In 1920, Clatie is living with her aunt, Mary W. Rudy. Grace Rudy, Mary's daughter is living there too. Synthia McDonald is also with them. It's probable that William, Clatie's grandfather, had passed away by then. Synthia is listed as Mary Rudy's mother-in-law.
Clatie is a clerk at a college at this time.
On March 25, 1920, Clatie married Albert Joseph Hammerly. Their license was taken out in Jackson County, Missouri. Albert was a truck driver for the Kansas State Agricultural College. That is probably where Clatie worked and where she met Albert.
The couple had one son, Francis, who was born on April 23, 1921.
In 1930, Albert and Clatie lived in Zeandale, Riley County, Kansas. Albert was working as a farmer.
